Dan Keczmer

Dan Keczmer, who is a good friend of mine, was born and raised in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, was a past NHL defenseman.  Since turning pro in 1990, the stay-at-home defenseman played with five NHL organizations.  During his time in the NHL, he added stability to the blueline by playing within his means and avoiding foolish penalties.  Keczmer played for the Detroit Little Caesars in 1985-86.  That year he was chosen 201st overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the NHL Entry Draft before spending four years at Lake Superior State.  While in college, one of his fellow teammates was Rene Chapdelaine.  Keczmer was also named to the CCHA second all-star team and competed for the United States when they finished fifth at the 1990 World Championships.  In his first pro season in 1990-91, Keczmer played nine games for Minnesota but spent the bulk of his time with the Kalamazoo Wings of the IHL.  Keczmer ended his career with a knee injury at the start of the 2000 NHL season.
