With the use of The NEAT System Motion
Analysis Software, a state-of-the-art video/motion
program, your swings will be broken down, analyzed,
explained and demonstrated (click on the image on the
left). I will then illustrate which parts of
your swings you may need to improve upon -- by
displaying your swings in frame-by-frame detail.
Also, I will personalize and demonstrate drills and
corrective measures that you may want to consider in
trying to help improve your game! |
All private lessons are video-taped as part of the lesson pricing package. During
your lesson, your swings will be analyzed and reviewed by me using
the NEAT System. However, as an additional purchased option, I can
create a "take-home video tape" of your lesson -- which
is excellent for later viewing at home (see
pricing).
Mailed-in video tape for analysis
A NEAT System mail-in video analysis can also be created!
Simply record your swings onto your media tape (VHS or Hi-8 Digital
/ Hi-8) and then send your tape to me! This
option is perfect for people that are not local or live
out-of-state. I will then review your tape and analyze it just
as I normally would during a typical private lesson. I will
advise you of my recommended corrective measures, drills,
suggestions, etc. I will then promptly mail your original tape back to
you -- with all of my analysis now included on your tape as well.
Once I receive your tape, you should have your results mailed back
to you within 7-10 days. See tape
specifications below for more information on mail-in video analysis.

 When
taping your swings, use a shutter speed that is a minimum
of 1000 frames/second. Many video cameras have a dial
or button that will allow you to choose the highest shutter
speed setting -- the higher the better!
You may send me either a standard VHS tape, or, a Hi-8 Digital
/ Hi-8 tape, as well.

 Place
your video camera at a hip-high position and video tape your
swings from the face-on position (perpendicular to your
stance). Also videotape your swings from the side
(sometimes referred to as "behind" or "down
the line") position. From the face-on position,
I would also like to see a close-up of your grip and two full
swings with both a 5 iron and a Driver. From the side
position, also videotape two swings using both a 5 iron and
a Driver, as well.

When
video taping your swings from the side (sometimes referred
to as "behind" or "down the line") position
(see picture below), please do your best to record your swings
from the hip-high position -- but also approximately midway
between your "ball of foot/middle of feet" line and your
target line. This way, when recording, you would
basically be filming right "through" the back of your hands
-- directly towards your intended target (flagstick, etc.).
Consequently, when correctly videotaping swings
this way, the person videotaping you (or the camera itself)
should not be able to see your intended target -- since your
hands will be "covering" your intended
target. When the video camera is positioned this way,
you are now properly filming your swings right "through"
the back of your hands towards your target -- which is the
best way to film golf swings -- especially when looking for proper swing
plane.
Final Note: Your golf swings should be recorded with
the use of a tripod, as this ensures a jitter-free recording. Additionally, many of the tapes I've received have been filmed
on a golf course, which is fine. However, they have not been
filmed using a tripod, which may be hard to accommodate on
a golf course. My suggestion is to film your swings at a
driving range or golf dome, where the use of a tripod may
be easier to accommodate.
